Fucking forgot Teen Wolf came on tonight (again) I’ve lost all hope of being spoiler free. Need to catch up on the last two anyway OTL
I haven’t even seen them yet and I already ship Derek and Miss Blake, just saying.
Time out corner babbies. They were split into different corners for obvious reasons, even though Stiles and Danny were only involved on principle okay.

dylan o’noob: apickuptruckandthedevilseyes: characterdevelopmentwrites: stiles does…
- stiles does not babble
- derek does not growl
- scott is not stupid
- isaac is not a puppydog
- Stiles can babble at times, if an author wants, as it means “to talk idly, irrationally, excessively, or foolishly; chatter or prattle.”
- Derek can growl, if an author wants, as he is a werewolf with a sour attitude after all.
- Scott can act a bit stupid, if an author wants, he has been known to say some pretty ridiculous things at times.
- Isaac can totally be a puppydog, if an author wants, the guy has been through enough and did you see him try to take the pain away from that sick dog? Awww … now I’m rambling.
Jeff Davis and co. came up with MTV’s adaptation of Teen Wolf and therefore these characters’ characterizations. Not you, not me, and definitely not anyone else. What Teen Wolf has given you is what you have to work with as an author, artist, etc. So when you give them character traits that they obviously do not have, you are erasing them as people. How people act, how they talk, their basic emotions make up the central core of their personality. Is it possibly for all of these characters to: babble, growl, act oblivious, or seem warm/innocent? Yes, of course. But that’s not how they’ve been shown in canon. Derek has never growled, Stiles has never babbled, Scott is not stupid, and Isaac is the furthest from innocent. So please do not call me high and mighty for simply wanting accurate characterization, for wanting the characters Teen Wolf has created for me. I fell in love Jeff Davis’ interpretation, not yours.
*whispers into the wind* if you don’t like it, don’t read it ⊙‿⊙✿
No but wait, all that stuff about purist-characterization aside(don’t like it don’t read it and all that, I’m not getting into it), what show are you watching? I’ve seen Stiles babble, I’ve seen Scott be a dumbass, and I’ve seen an innocent side to Isaac. I could even say Derek has growled (obviously not in a dog-vocalization sense but as a descriptor for a rough gravely voice which is what I’m thinking these writers use the word as) All of that on the actual show that was actually written by Jeff Davis and acted by the actual actors in the actual damn show.

Push
Best friends since childhood, Scott & Stiles, are psychics hiding out in Hong Kong. Scott, a Watcher, sees glimpses into the future giving him the ability to alter events before they happen. Stiles, a Mover, is capable of manipulating the gravitational field around objects at will. They use their abilities to run cons & stay beyond the reach of Division, the government agency set on building an army of psychics amped up by the deadly drug R16.
One day, Scott’s visions begin to feature Allison Argent, a beautiful Pusher from the boys’ past, alone in Hong Kong & on the run after stealing a syringe of R16 from the Division lab controlled by her family. Allison’s grandfather, a Pusher infamous for his ruthless tactics, & her father Chris, a powerful Mover, will stop at nothing to keep the syringe & Allison - the only psychic to ever survive an injection of the drug - out of any hands but their own.
Also tracking Allison is Peter, a Watcher like Scott, who wants the syringe in order to fulfill his own plans to take down Division. He enlists Erica & Isaac, a couple of Bleeders-for-Hire, to help him “persuade” Scott & Stiles to give up Allison. Derek, a Shadow & Peter’s estranged nephew, agrees to help the boys in order to get retribution for the murder of his sister at his uncle’s hands.
With the assistance of Derek’s contacts - Deaton, an ex-Division Stitch; Morrell, an expat Sniff, & her socialite Shifter girlfriend, Lydia; & Boyd, a mysterious Wiper who just wants to get paid - Scott & Stiles might be able to stay alive, outwit Peter, & get their hands on the key to taking down Division once & for all.
Which just leaves Allison. Was she ever really the girl who ran scams with them that summer on Coney Island or was it all just a Push?

First piece for our winners from the Sterek Campaign! This is for keepcalmandcallsherlock from paperclipmagnets. They requested art for an RP with Stiles, Derek, and a unicorn with Angler fish teeth and glitter dandruff. This is probably one of my favorite pieces <3

The tags though.
Because he’s already edging there, by virtue of being the pragmatic one in a world of murder and mayhem as counterpoint to Scott’s idealism.
All Peter needs to do is worm his way in there while Scott is distracted by his new bromance with Isaac (who is thinking Peter isn’t so bad anyway…) and start telling Stiles about lore. Lore Stiles can’t find online or in musty books.
Because Stiles is so curious, you see.
And knowledge is power, something Stiles can use when Scott won’t make those tough decisions that they’re gonna face.
Word.
A Poison(ous) Friend, for those who aren’t familiar with the term, is a generally sidekick-like character attached to another character, but who has a differing (usually more cynical) moral code. In this case, obviously, Stiles the sidekick is attached the Scott, our hero. Sometimes the hero ends up influencing the friend (i.e., Stiles might pick up some of Scott’s idealism), or sometimes the friend influences the hero (i.e. Scott picks up some of Stiles’s slightly darker nature).
In the ‘text’, Stiles can be a useful storytelling tool because he does things that Scott, as the hero, functionally can’t - Scott might try to bribe his mother by bringing her dinner, but I doubt he’d encourage functioning alcoholism; however, because Stiles is less of a moral character, he serves a function in that he can do what Scott can’t, or won’t. We haven’t really seen this on the show yet, but the potential is seen in how Scott refuses to kill Jackson, while Stiles is willing to at least think about it. We’re supposed to laud Scott for this decision, and do - I mean, I see the virtue in not wanting to kill people, hello - but there’s a point where Jackson would become so dangerous that if Stiles stepped in and killed him, it would be hard to really condemn the decision, when weighing all the murders and potential future murders.
Anyway, the Poison Friend is interesting because their actions can range from “understandable” to “downright sociopathic” - think of it on a scale from Giles killing Ben in Season Five, or killing someone who might be contaminated with an infectious disease/zombie bite/they’re TURNING in every horror movie ever, up to Ozymandias’s actions in Watchmen. (Obviously, YMMV with all of these, but the point stands.) And even if the Poison Friends starts on one side of the scale, it’s possible to slide one way – Stiles might start at cynical, head to anti-hero, and slide right into pretty goddamn evil (remember when Willow lost it on Buffy? Hero Support is a stressful job, yo). Right now Stiles is tied to Scott, and I doubt he’d go too far off the beaten path because that, but if there were other influences in his life? We might have a yellow crayon moment. And Scott might be able to bring Stiles back – or Stiles could go full-on Dark Side.

I had an idea for a big dumb mythology/folklore AU, though this looks more fantasy RPG because every outfit I thought of that made me think PANTHEON!! wasn’t at all functional? Pfft, who wants to go on adventures in robes? Not me. And not Stiles. He’d probably trip all over them.
The story is that Derek is essentially Fenrir. His family were all wolves that shed their pelts (faolfir /cackles) and the gods were terrified of them because they were the only things that could kill them, to death. They couldn’t kill them all because it would just invite the cycle to start again, but Kate, a goddess of passion (but not love), took it upon herself to deal with the “problem.” She seduced Derek and locked him away, and to make sure he wouldn’t escape, she took his pelt and shredded it. The rest of the Hales were killed, save for Laura (who had been away, looking for Derek) and Peter (but his pelt was destroyed in the fire). The pieces of Derek’s pelt are scattered and those who find them become the first werewolves.
And then some millenia later, some dumb trickster demigod dragged his mortal friend to go exploring some caves and they found Derek, and thinking he was just some poor dude, they let him go. He
threatenedconvinced them to help him find the pieces of his pelt. Derek immediately regrets this decision. Also letting Derek out may or may not have kickstarted the in-universe ragnarok. Whoops. GOOD JOB, GUYS.
I thought about this AU way too much and I now have a ridiculously large headcanon for it, and I’m probably going to draw more dumb things just so I can rant more. Sorry fkjsdhkfje
(Also the runes on Stiles are from Hávamál, in Ljóðatal, which I copied down into Younger Futhark/Medieval runes for this because I clearly hate myself)
