my weakness: 2014!Dean

This is the most important backstory the show has ever given us.

When Dean Winchester finally dies (for good, this time), Death takes a holiday.
He spends a week going to every fair and carnival in the continental US.
He eats every deep fried concoction possible.
When his holiday comes to an end, he goes to Heaven and knocks on the pearly gates with the head of his cane. He asks to speak with Dean Winchester.
Dean is surprised to find Death there when the angels bring him forward. Death swore that their last meeting, when Death personally escorted Dean’s soul to Heaven, would be the final time they ever saw one another.
“I found it,” Death tells him. “The perfect pie. It was in Muncie, Indiana. Apple, with a flaky, golden crust. The ratio of cinnamon to sugar and its balance with the tart Granny Smith…. it was just perfect. Divine, even.”
Dean stares at Death, unsure of why he is telling him this, but then he looks down. In Death’s hand is a wrinkled, white paper bag. Inside the bag is a slice of the perfect pie.
Dean takes the bag, mystified.
“Thanks for the pickle chips that time,” Death says, then disappears into the void.

Well that was unexpectedly and tear-jerkingly adorable.

O DEATH DON’T MAKE ME CRY DON’T MAKE DEAN DIE

It was bloody. Messy. 31 Flavors of bottom-dwelling nasties. Hell, most days felt like 360-degree combat.

Okay, lets take a moment here.  Since she was a part of his own crazy mind - he knew all of those mental disorders, or else she wouldn’t have been able to say them.

Dean may be a high school drop out with six bucks to his name, but he’s more than just a smart ass. He’s genuinely intelligent.

I’m offended every time fans or even the show just assume he’s not intelligent and repeatedly make digs at him for not picking up books.

Highly resourceful, he frequently utilizes improvised weapons and explosive devices; in “Croatoan”, he demonstrated knowledge of chemistry, constructing Molotov cocktails and improvised explosive devices, and in “Phantom Traveler”, he revealed knowledge of electronics and reverse engineering, having built an electromagnetic field detector from an old Walkman radio.

Let’s remember that Dean was the first person to understand what Jo meant in “Abandon All Hope” when she started listing the things they had in the store to make a bomb. He has to understand chemistry pretty well to get that off the bat. Also he rebuilt the impala from the ground up, yeah a dumb person can’t do that. He also made his own EMF meter out of a busted up walkman, that has still been shown to work in “Reading Is Fundemental”. Like how does one go about doing that? If there are books on how to do that I’m sure they’re limited.

tl;dr: People who call Dean stupid make me laugh so goddamn hard.

Dean’s references aren’t always pop culture either, I’ve seen him reference writers from history that barely anyone has heard of.

Dean is covertly intelligent. He doesn’t mind taking a back seat to Sam in this department but he’ll take the little chances he gets to show up his brother, like when he tapped into the web cam in time after time.

"Repo Man"

onthesideofangels:

I want to try something a little unusual with this post. I want to attempt an alternate reading of Edlund’s “Repo Man.”

Full disclosure: I am not sure if what I end up with here is something to take into account, truly, but I have been itching to do some analysis and I thought that “Repo Man” would present a fun challenge for alternative readings.

Destiel shippers agree, almost universally, that Jeffrey’s heartbreak over losing “his” demon is meant to parallel Dean’s own heartbreak over losing Castiel, “his” angel.

But is it possible that there is another reading?
